Harvest cultivating the future with new ag centre

HARVEST Christian College, Kadina, will celebrate the official opening of its new Agriculture Centre next week, with community members invited to attend this exciting milestone.
Principal Peter Ayoub said the new facility represented a significant investment in agricultural education and reflected the college’s commitment to providing students with practical learning opportunities in one of Australia’s most important industries.
“The dual-purpose building also includes change rooms to service the AFL-sized oval, along with a classroom that can also be used as a conference facility,” Mr Ayoub said.
“Designed for students from the middle years through to senior secondary, the Agriculture Centre supports learning in livestock, cropping, sustainability, agricultural technology and agribusiness.
“The college’s Agricultural Program has been intentionally developed to reflect the industries most relevant to the Yorke Peninsula, with a strong focus on agronomy, sheep production and the use of modern agricultural technologies.”
Mr Ayoub said it was also planned to introduce a laying chicken enterprise, providing students with further opportunities to explore animal production systems.
“This Agriculture Centre is much more than a building — it is an investment in the lives of our students and in the future of our region,” he said.
“We are committed to providing learning experiences that are engaging, relevant and grounded in Christian values, empowering young people to discover their God-given gifts and make a meaningful contribution to the world around them.”
The Agriculture Centre has been designed to provide students with practical, industry-focused learning experiences while supporting the continued growth of the college’s agricultural program.
Agriculture teacher Erin Hartley said the dedicated facility would give students authentic, hands-on opportunities to develop valuable skills.
“Agriculture is an incredibly diverse and rewarding industry,” Ms Hartley said.
“Having access to a purpose-built learning environment allows students to gain practical experience, solve real-world problems and develop skills that will benefit them wherever their future takes them.
“It is exciting to see students discovering a passion for agriculture and understanding the important role it plays in feeding and sustaining our communities.”
Guests attending the official opening will have the opportunity to tour the new facility, meet staff and students, and see firsthand how Harvest Christian College is investing in agricultural education for tfuture generations.
