Tow with confidence

IF you’re planning to escape the winter, make sure the tyres on your caravan — and your tow vehicle — are in good condition.

Bridgestone Kadina and Maitland offer tyres plus precision balancing and wheel alignment using state-of-the-art equipment.

Ensuring your wheels are aligned will mean your tyres last longer because they wear evenly, and will also save you money at the pump.

It is highly important for people to check the condition of their trailer and caravan tyres before hitting the road, according to Bridgestone Tyre Centre Kadina service manager Scott Brookes.

“Tyres which have been on a caravan or boat trailer sitting in the shed for months are often in worse condition than tyres on a car which have been on the road for that same amount of time,” he said.

“They could be damaged and you don’t even realise.

“Things to check for include any cracking or abnormal bulges, as well as flat spots.

“These are all indicators there could be a problem.

“It is important to also remember to check your spare tyre.

“The best way to ensure your tyres are in good condition before you take a trip is to have them checked by a professional.”

Other things to check before you head out with the trailer or van in tow include all lights, and of course your car.

Bridgestone Tyre Centres Kadina and Maitland are part of the Gunnings Automotive Group, which can service your tow vehicle to ensure it is in good shape to pull the van/trailer.
