MAITLAND and District Progress Association will bring aged care providers and services together for a day of information, learning and discussions for the Yorke Peninsula community later this month.

The Age Well Expo, at the Maitland Town Hall on Thursday, June 25, will showcase a wide range of services for retirees, people preparing for retirement, carers and families supporting aged loved ones.

Organiser Glenys Blacker said the expo would provide an opportunity for older people to better understand the services available to them.

The Maitland Information Centre hosts a Services Australia Agency, where volunteers regularly assist people seeking information and support.

“Many have reported difficulty in navigating the various avenues available in the aged care space,” Ms Blacker said.

“Taking these comments on board and discussing with other organisations such as COTA, Services Australia and other operators, we identified a need to bring as many providers as possible under one roof so our community can engage with them face to face and discuss their individual needs.”

Eighteen service providers from Yorke Peninsula and beyond will attend the expo, offering direct and personalised guidance.

“There will also be a breakout space where people can have a chat with services in a more private space,” Ms Blacker said.

Attendees are encouraged to make a day of it by supporting local businesses and eateries while in town.

The Yorke Collective artisan makers market, at 3 Robert Street, will be open, and the Yorke Food and More van will also be operating.

The Age Well Expo will run from 10am to 2pm, June 25, at the Maitland Town Hall.

Entry is by gold coin donation.
