IMMERSE yourself in the rich traditions and cultural heritage of the Nharangga dhura (Narungga people) at next month’s Nharangga Cultural Day.

The event will be held at the picturesque Minlagawi Gum Flat Reserve, Minlaton, 10.30am to 1.30pm, on Sunday, May 5.

The day offers a unique opportunity for locals and visitors to experience and learn about traditional science, knowledge, skills, culture and the importance of caring for Country.

“Building on the success of the past two years, this year’s program offers even more excitement and engagement,” Yorke Peninsula Council Environment Officer Letitia Dahl-helm said.

“Participants can experience guided walks which offer a unique perspective on the land and its significance.

“Enjoy the flavours of the land with bush tucker samples, including kangaroo tacos, wattle seed damper prepared over a warm fire, lemon myrtle biscuits and kangaroo soup.

“The Nharangga Artists Market will also be a highlight, offering a chance to meet the artists, explore their inspirations and perhaps find a special piece to take home.”

From dance workshops to art sessions, songs in the Nharangga language to face painting, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Bring along a picnic basket and rug and immerse yourself in the great outdoors of Nharangga Banggara (Nharangga Country).

The event is proudly presented by Nharangga Aboriginal Progress Association, Narungga Nation Aboriginal Corporation and Yorke Peninsula Council, with funding support from the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board, Red Cross and Country Arts SA.
