Sailing opens at Port Vincent
1 min read

Port Vincent Sailing Club opened its 2024-25 season on Sunday, October 13, with several boats sailing in light conditions and using the first race as a shakedown cruise to iron out any bugs.

In the end, the Commodore’s Cup race was abandoned due to lack of wind!

Commodore Alan Rushbrook welcomed club members and visitors. During his welcoming address, he announced life memberships for two long-serving club members, Graham Butler and Joey Butler.

The brothers have been members of the club for many years.

Graham ended his sailing career on Proteus and Joey sailed Xtremist.

Both have retired from sailing but are still valued members of our club. Congratulations to both.

This announcement was followed by Colin Germein, another long-term club member, reminiscing about its early days. It was very interesting to hear him.

We are pleased to welcome two new boats to our club.

Misty is a Nolex 25 crewed by Adrianne and Terry, while Marcus has a new trailer-sailer he is preparing for the season.

The opening day celebrations were followed by a light meal and lots of socialising.

We are looking forward to a competitive and exciting season and good luck to all boats and crews.
