YORKE Peninsula Council is pleased to be bringing back YorKON this year, Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24.

Sadly, Covid-19 put a stop to the past two events but organisers are ready to make this year’s event at Maitland better than ever.

“This event provides the local community, especially our young people and their families, with the unique opportunity to engage in a fun and free social games event, including free play computer and retro games, arcade games, workshops, tournaments, table top games, making and a costume competition during the April School holidays,” YPC CEO Andrew Cameron said.

“This year, there’s even more as the Maitland Markets will be joining us on Saturday to treat attendees to a treasure trove of local art, delicious food, produce, food, jewellery, crafts and the list goes on.”

YPC is partnering again with Team AvCon, the Copper Coast Tabletop Gamers, Retrospekt, Little Adventurers and Southern Dewback Garrison — 501st Legion to bring the fun to the town hall and information centre.

New to the party are Cold Creature Art, Ben’s IT Communications, Nankivell IT and Maitland and District Progress Association who are ready to level-up YorKON.

“YorKON will be run from 11am to 7pm on Saturday and 10am to 3pm on Sunday,” Mr Cameron said.

“The YorKON Games Convention is for all ages, with the exception of a secure 15-plus session (content rated as PG and M classifications), to be held on both days.

“Registration and parental consent is essential for this drug and alcohol-free event.”

To register, visit www.yorke.sa.gov.au by 5pm, Wednesday, April 20.

All children 13 years and under must be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian.

This is a Covid-Safe event and will be held in line with all government restrictions in place at the time.
