STAR of the Sea Wallaroo leaders have praised the hard work and compassion of the organisation’s employees to mark Aged Care Employees Day.
“Our staff all provide care and services for our clients and residents to live their best lives,” community care general manager Mel King and residential services manager Michelle Bown said.
“There are many obstacles to overcome when working in aged care, but our staff have shown perseverance, bravery, and commitment in a field that is always evolving.”
SOTS Community Care, with an office based at Wallaroo, has a network of 46 staff, plus contractors.
They provide services to 193 people living in their own homes in the Barunga West, Copper Coast and Yorke Peninsula council areas and in the Mid North, from Owen in the south to Wilmington in the north.
Those services range from domestic assistance and home and yard maintenance to personal care, transport and in-home respite, through to allied health services and clinical and palliative care.
Star of the Sea is also a registered Veterans’ Home Care provider.
Star of the Sea Home for the Aged in Wallaroo has 70 residents who are looked after by 115 staff.
“We are one big family, as the saying goes, and it sums up the dedication of our staff to the wellbeing of our clients and residents and their camaraderie,” Mel and Michelle said.
“Our staff always go the extra mile, and our innovative group ensures that no challenge is too great to overcome.
“To every staff member — you are the reason Star of The Sea Community Care and Home for the Aged are trusted and respected to provide care for the elderly.
“We thank you for being superheroes.”
