BARLEY Stacks Wines will showcase the very best Yorke Peninsula has to offer at a Tasting Australia event on Sunday, May 1.
Feast on Yorkes will be a fair-inspired event featuring local food, wine and talent from the land and sea at Barley Stacks’ cellar door, 159 Lizard Park Drive, South Kilkerran.
The free family event will allow guests to mix and mingle while enjoying native foods, fresh local seafood, pastries, paella, local wine, beer and spirits, and listening to The Yorke Band.
Artists Alex Wakefield, Sue Gerschwitz and Josh Rudduck will also be displaying their work which will be available to purchase on the day.
“This is the fifth time we have hosted a Tasting Australia event, which has been very successful in the past,” managing director Lyall Schulz said.
“With Covid restrictions easing, our cellar door is now back to full capacity.
“This year’s event will also be the first time we have held Feast on Yorkes with our new outdoor area, which is exciting too.
“People need to get their tickets online through the Tasting Australia website or you can find the link in the events section of our website to help us with catering.
“You will also find the full menu for the day on our website very soon.
“It will be a family event so children are very welcome and if the weather is nice it will be held inside and outside.”
Mr Schulz attended a Tasting Australia event in Adelaide which inspired the winery to host something locally.
Local businesses involved in this year’s event include MBC Foods, Pacific Estate Oysters, Chunky Boy’s Kitchen, Grazing Yorkes, Newchurch Horticulture and the Minlaton Bakery.
Wine from Barley Stacks Wines will be available to purchase by the glass or bottle, as well as beer and cider from Watsacowie Brewery and cocktails from Sunny Hill Distillery.
“There is a growing awareness Yorke Peninsula is not just about fishing and beaches,” Mr Schulz said.
“Our event, being the only Tasting Australia event held in the region, has become a great way to showcase the Yorke Peninsula, its products and produce in one place.”
