Community a focus for Mel
1 min read

MEL King is embracing her new role as Star of the Sea Community Care General Manager.

“I’ve been involved in the aged care sector in a residential capacity for more than 25 years’ on Yorke Peninsula, but I really wanted to take the opportunity to get involved in community care on the ground level,” she said.

“I just love aged care, this role allows me to spend more time with our staff, with the clients and the community.

“Since starting five weeks ago, I’m loving the idea that I will be able to go out and meet with people in their homes.”

Star of the Sea has been providing quality home care services throughout the Yorke Peninsula, Copper Coast and Port Pirie regions for more than 14 years.

“It’s all about providing that right level of care in the community and meeting the needs of our clients,” Mel said.

“Our staff are so passionate and caring of our clients and their needs.

“We currently offer package levels 1, 2, 3 or 4, as well as Veteran Home Care and private services, and I only see the need for this growing.

“We want to help people to remain in their homes for as long as they can.

“We are also in a position where we have that residential link to care as well, so we can offer respite to our clients, or if the time comes and they need to become residents, then that continuity of care carries on.”
