Golden Harvest Quilters keep on patching away
1 min read

DESPITE Covid restrictions, Golden Harvest Quilters members have been active making quilt tops over the past two years.

As a result, many quilts have been assembled by club members during quilt-for-others working bees.

Since June 2020, 95 quilts have been donated to various charities around the state.

These include the Royal Flying Doctor Service Southern Yorke Peninsula Support Group, two quilts for raffle prizes; Uniting Country SA, Port Pirie, 46 quilts; Women's Safety Services SA, Elizabeth, 20 quilts; and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital renal dialysis unit, Woodville South, 27 quilts.

Contact the group via ghquilters@gmail.com to nominate a group to receive quilts.

The Minlaton-based quilters currently have a selection of quilts on display at a free mini exhibition in the Harvest Corner reading/meeting room, Minlaton.

Many of the quilts have been assembled using wadding and/or backing purchased with a Yorke Peninsula Council community grant.

"Golden Harvest Quilters appreciate the support received from the council and Harvest Corner," GHQ vice-president Michelle Hawthorne said.

"We usually meet on the second Wednesday of each month at the Minlaton CWA rooms but, unfortunately, meetings are currently suspended after advice from the SA Quilters Guild."

The quilts will be on display at Harvest Corner until mid-February.
