YORKE Peninsula Council is excited to announce YorKON is returning in 2023.
The community has been eagerly awaiting the return of YorKON following the success of last year’s jam-packed event.
YorKON 2023 will be held at the Maitland Town Hall in the April school holidays, Saturday, April 22, from 10am to 7pm, and on Sunday, April 23, 10am to 3pm.
“YorKON provides the local community, especially young people and their families, with the unique opportunity to engage in a fun and free social games event,” Mayor Darren Braund said.
“The two-day convention includes free play computer and retro games, arcade games, workshops, table top games and a costume competition.
“This year, YorKON is set to be better than ever with new interactive activities joining the program, including a self-guided Minecraft adventure and jumbo-sized build and play Minecraft scenes.”
Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in costume for a chance at winning the best costume prize, with one winner announced each day at 2pm.
During the event, attendees can enter a competition for the chance to win a framed and signed exhibition quality print by Mark Raats of Obi Wan Kenobi from the TV miniseries.
“YorKON Games Convention is for all ages, with the exception of a secure 15-plus session (content rated as PG and M classifications), to be held on both days,” Mr Braund said.
“All children 13 years and under must be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian.”
Partners include Team AvCon, Copper Coast Table Top Gamers, Retrospekt, Little Adventurers and Southern Dewback Garrison — 501st Legion, Cold Creature Art, Ben’s IT Communications and Maitland and District Progress Association.”
Registration is essential and closes at 5pm on Wednesday, April 19.
