THREE Generations and Friends art exhibition is on again this Easter at the Port Vincent Institute.

The exhibition, which opens at midday on Good Friday and runs until 5pm Easter Monday, will feature new works from three generations of artists — Marie Parsons, daughter Allyson and grandson Henry Cockington — along with other talented Yorke Peninsula artists.

Marie, Allyson and Henry, and friends, are set to showcase paintings, pastels, sculpture, jewellery and fibre art.

Allyson won the 2023 Victor Harbor Rotary Art Show People’s Choice Award with her painting of sand dunes at Chinaman Wells.

She’ll have some new works from the Flinders Ranges, Kangaroo Island, and Chinaman Wells at the Easter exhibition.

Henry, too, experienced success at the Victor show, selling his major work to an international buyer.

He has a variety of new works from Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and the Flinders Ranges ready for the show and is planning a painting trip to the Mediterranean and north Africa later this year.

Marie’s contributions to the Easter show include new still life pastel work.

The exhibition will also feature unique three-dimensional driftwood sculptures of predominately marine animals and birdlife, created by Alan Borg from driftwood collected around Australia.

Local artists Mark Short, Terry Braund, Bruce Davey and Josh Rudduck will also showcase paintings and pastels while June Faulkner and Margie Davies have created original fibre works for the exhibition.

Vanessa Murdoch and Sue Garrard’s always-in-demand handmade jewellery will be another highlight of the exhibition.

“The exhibition is a great way to showcase artists from SYP and beyond as it is one of the busiest times of the year,” Allyson said.
