Severe weather warning
1 min read

The Yorke and Northern Local Health Network is advising the community to stay home and stay safe, after The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds across parts South Australia with gusts over 100 kilometres an hour likely.

These winds have the potential to bring down trees and powerlines, as well as reduce visibility from disturbance of dust.

SAPOL have issued a traffic warning for country South Australia, after severe weather has caused dust storms significantly reducing visibility on roads.
Police are asking drivers to exercise with caution and to ensure headlights are on while driving or to have hazard lights if the vehicle needs to be pulled over until conditions improve.

SA Power Networks have issued advice for the community to be weather ready by keeping devices, such as mobile phones.

In a post to Facebook they said trees were already weakened from months of dry conditions and there is a higher risk of fallen trees and branches, which could cause power outages.

“We’ve got extra crews and support staff on standby across the state, ready to respond,” the post said.

The CFS have already responded to several fallen trees across the Yorke Peninsula, near Hardwicke Bay, Clinton and Koolywurtie.
