AUSTRALIAN Guitar Festival’s On the Road program is bringing some well-known guitarists to Yorke Peninsula in early April — with performances at Wallaroo, Edithburgh and Warooka free to attend.

On the Road producer Aaron Austin-Glen said the program’s aim was to connect communities with extraordinary musical talent.

“The cost of living is tough right now and a free show
will appeal to those wanting to get out,” Mr Austin-Glen
said.

“Thanks to federal and state funding, and local council assistance, we’re able to bring world-class musicians to regional communities for free.”

Performing at the Wallaroo Town Hall on Friday night, April 10, are award-winning guitarist Slava Grigoryan with bass player Al Slavik, singer-songwriter Nancy Bates, and local blues legend Chris Finnen & Band.

On Saturday, April 11, the show heads to Location Cafe in Edithburgh, with indie-folk artist Aaron Thomas, country artist Glenn Skuthorpe and folk singer-songwriter Laura Hill on the set list.

Ballara Art and Lifestyle Retreat, Warooka, will host on April 12, when audiences can catch Slava Grigoryan and Al Slavik’s community concert, plus a special in-the-round performance featuring Nancy Bates, Chris Finnen and Aaron Thomas.

“Many of our previous tours have given local communities the inspiration and confidence to run their own shows and festivals, which is amazing to see,” Mr Austin-Glen said.

“Building a stronger regional touring network to connect artists and local communities is to everyone’s benefit.”
