Wish granted for Lucy Hancocks

LUCY Hancocks’ wish has been granted.
The 13 year old of Moonta, is flying with her family to Newcastle to meet YouTube comedian Georgia of Georgia Productions thanks to Make-A-Wish.
Lucy was diagnosed with Parry-Romberg Syndrome, a rare, progressive disease and has had countless surgeries over the past 10 years.
“One of my friends got me onto her (Georgia),” Lucy said.
“I’ve been watching her for years, she’s funny and I love watching her videos.
“I’m pretty excited, I think we’re just going to hang out and maybe make a video.”
Local Make-A-Wish volunteers first met with Lucy more than a year ago, and presented her with her wish and gifts from local businesses at netball practice last week.
“None of my team knew this was happening, so it was nice to have them be part of it,” Lucy said.
The wish was expected to occur later this year due to Lucy’s impending trip to America for treatment in June.
“When we first met Lucy, she was quiet and a little shy,” wish granting coordinator Iris Lawrence said.
“We’ve got to know Lucy a little better whilst designing her wish, and we are all excited that it’s finally about to happen.”
Lucy’s mum Jodie Hancocks  thanked the Make-A-Wish volunteers for their efforts and local businesses including SportsPower Kadina, which donated vouchers for Lucy to use.
“Lucy has a long three months coming up, so this is really exciting for her,” Jodie said.
Since 1985, more than 8000 life-changing wishes have been granted for seriously ill children in Australia.
