Care in Motion nominated in two state community award categories

CARE in Motion has been nominated in two categories for the 2025 South Australian Community Achievement Awards.

Based out of Minlaton, the organisation is a contender for both the Awards Australia Business for Good Award and the Beyond Bank Community Group Award.

Despite the accolades, Care in Motion chief executive David McDonald said recognition is not the goal.

“Receiving recognition is a job well done,” he said.

“I think the success reflects everyone.

“The whole team and their hard work is appreciated and recognition of our volunteers.”

Care in Motion has previously been recognised nationally and at state level.

It won the 2024 National Award for Etxcellence in the Rural and Remote Organisation category and was a finalist in the SA Premier’s Business and Export Awards — becoming the first community transport provider to achieve that status.

The organisation was also a finalist in two categories — small business and community group — in last year’s 7NEWS Community Achievement Awards.

Volunteer impact and growth

As a volunteer-based organisation, Care in Motion supports the Yorke Peninsula and Mid North through community transport, aged care visiting and Centrelink agency services.

According to Care in Motion’s 2025 annual report, the organisation has 148 active volunteer drivers, who completed 2240 trips over 10,980 hours, covering a total of 633,676 kilometres.

Mr McDonald said the high standard of service provided by volunteers was a key reason for the nominations.

“The care factor from their volunteers is high,” he said, noting that their quality of service delivery continues to stand out.

In the 2024-25 reporting year, Care in Motion completed 15,765 client trips — 5858 social and 9907 medical — covering 939,227km.

With 60 per cent of active clients being female, a typical trip was for a 71-year-old woman attending a medical appointment.
