2025 SYP Show set to thrill in Minlaton
4 min read

THE 2025 Hamilton’s Transport Southern Yorke Peninsula Show rolls into Minlaton next week, promising a family fun day packed with attractions for all ages.

This year’s program introduces exciting new features, headlined by the Stockman’s Challenge, which will showcase working horsemanship in the horse arena.

On the oval, the family-friendly zone will host the Full Send Golf Simulator, free for all to enjoy. Visitors can take on world-famous courses and compete with friends and family to see who can drive the furthest.

Children can look forward to special appearances from Bluey and the Adelaide Strikers cricket mascot, who will bring extra energy to the oval. A classic catch tent will give budding cricketers the chance to test their skills.

Live music will keep the party atmosphere alive throughout the day, while traditional show favourites return across the pavilions and displays.

From animals to local produce and creative exhibits, there will be something to capture the interest of every showgoer.

The Minlaton Show remains one of Southern Yorke Peninsula’s biggest drawcards. Held during the school holidays, it is expected to attract strong crowds, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.

Organisers encourage the community to get behind the event and enjoy a day of entertainment, activities and celebration in Minlaton on Wednesday, October 8.

SYP Show goes digital

THE 2025 SYP Show is going digital, with all bookings now managed through the Showday website.

Visitors can use the platform to book entry tickets and register for workshops, including the popular children’s sessions running throughout the day.

Moving bookings online helps streamline event management and reduces the need for queuing on show day — making the experience smoother for both attendees and organisers.

To secure your place, visit Showday online and follow the prompts.

Worms are back for free workshops

THE Australian Worm Firm is back at the 2025 SYP Show, offering fun, hands-on learning experiences — at no cost — for younger visitors and interested community members.

Two free workshops will run throughout the day under the pavilion verandah, open to all showgoers:

  • 10.30am — Worm farm workshop: Learn how to create and maintain a worm farm at home.
  • 1.30pm — Wicking bed workshop: Discover how this water-saving garden bed system works and how to build one.

These interactive sessions are ideal for families looking for an affordable and educational day out.

In addition to the workshops, the Australian Worm Firm stall will be selling heirloom tomatoes as part of the Minlaton Heirloom Tomato Sale, proudly supporting local growers and businesses.

Come one, come all, to the SYP Show

I WARMLY invite everyone to join us for our annual Hamilton’s Transport Southern Yorke Peninsula Agricultural Show, to be held in Minlaton on Wednesday, October 8.

Our committee has been working tirelessly to make sure this year’s show lives up to expectations and provides an enjoyable day for all.

There truly is something for everyone, with attractions and activities spread right across the grounds.

Visitors can explore trade sites, wander through Market Lane, and admire the skill and creativity of local exhibitors competing for top prizes in a range of categories.

A full program of talks and demonstrations will run throughout the day, and we are especially pleased to welcome back our much-loved hands-on junior workshops.

On the entertainment stage, Old Town Road will provide the soundtrack, while families can look forward to the ever-popular Bluey performing stage shows.

SA Ambulance Service will also be on site with a valuable first aid demonstration.

Over the past year, we have continued our restoration work on the show buildings.

I am particularly delighted that the historic Ticket Office has now been brought back into usable condition.

On show day it will proudly host the grain section alongside a historical farming display.

I encourage everyone to visit these buildings and appreciate the effort that has gone into preserving such an important part of our local heritage.

An event of this scale simply wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, donors and volunteers.

Once again, we have been overwhelmed by the spirit of our community, and on behalf of the committee I extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have helped bring this year’s show to life.

Looking ahead, our 150th anniversary in 2028 is fast approaching.

We are always eager to welcome young and enthusiastic members to our committee to ensure the future success of our show for many years to come.

I look forward to seeing you all on show day!

Kristy May, President SYP Agricultural Society
