Twelve months as DCBW mayor

MAYOR... It has been 12 months since Cynthia Axford was elected mayor of the District Council of Barunga West.

 

IT has been 12 months since the District Council of Barunga West elected its first female mayor, Cynthia Axford.

Mrs Axford joins an select group on Yorke Peninsula where councils have had just two female mayors or chairpersons — Heather Browne for Wallaroo from 1995 to 1997 and Betty Nobes for Warooka in 1993.

“I’m surprised at how engaging it has been and I’m enjoying it far more than I ever thought I would,” Mrs Axford said.
