Tiny snapper to boost stocks

SNAPPER stocks will be boosted when more than 300,000 fingerlings are released in the Spencer and St Vincent gulfs in the coming months.

The state government has committed to a $500,000 program to help snapper stocks recover from critically low levels in the gulfs.

About 150,000 fingerlings will start being released in Gulf St Vincent this week, with an extra 150,000 fingerlings expected to be released into Spencer Gulf in autumn.
