Bill could impact regional papers — and the public’s right to know

LABOR MP Tony Piccolo has accused the state Liberal government of an “ongoing attack on local country and regional papers”.

Mr Piccolo has said the government’s moves to reduce the need for advertising of certain notices in local papers will cost jobs and undermine democracy in rural South Australia.

Last year the government passed new laws so state government departments and agencies no longer had to publish notices in country papers.
