Red Cross expands bushfire grants

RED Cross has expanded its grants program to help people who lost their homes in the 2019-20 bushfires find somewhere safe to stay in winter.

Local recovery coordinator Kate Martin said Red Cross would provide further support with additional grant funds and an expanded eligibility to the primary residence to include rental properties, caravans and mobile homes to those Yorke Peninsula residents who had lost their homes.

Director of Australian programs Noel Clement said the current grant would be renamed a re-establishment grant, to reflect new evidence many people needed more flexibility and support.
