Emergency services respond to acid spill

EMERGENCY services were called to the Wallaroo Hospital to deal with a small peracetic acid spill last Thursday, December 18.

The spill was the result of a malfunction with a Steris machine, which is used to clean colonoscopes.

“The machine was immediately switched off by staff members, the area was isolated and emergency services were contacted as per standard procedure,” Wallaroo Hospital director of nursing and midwifery Susan Watkins said.
