Brock pushes for independent commission into land access

INDEPENDENT Member for Frome Geoff Brock will table a bill to establish a commission of inquiry into land access provision in the House of Assembly tomorrow (Wednesday).

Mr Brock said the bill was a bid to bring clarity to the state government’s controversial Mining Bill, which has caused division and concern.

“This bill is very simplistic and calls for an independent commissioner to thoroughly examine best practice land-access frameworks in other states, the operations of the Department of Energy and Mining in relation to land access regimes, and best practices in mining,” he said.
