SA Power Networks “not at fault” for SYP bushfire

AN inquiry has concluded the Yorketown bushfire was ignited by SA Power Networks equipment — but the company was not at fault.

The South Australian Office of the Technical Regulator found SA Power Networks maintained its assets and cleared vegetation in accordance with its procedures and legislative requirements in the lead-up to and on the day of the Yorketown fire.

However, a class action lawsuit involving victims of the fire, which claims the fire was caused by SA Power Networks breaches, will still go ahead.
