More crop area sown for 2020-21 season

AREA under crop across South Australia — about 4 million hectares — is significantly higher in the 2020-21 growing season than the five-year average, according to PIRSA’s latest Crop and Pasture Report.

The report indicates good rains in late April and a full soil moisture profile enabled normal seeding operations with full cropping programs sown across the state.

PIRSA senior industry adviser Dave Lewis said seeding in some districts completed was earlier than usual and close to normal for the rest of the state.
