Government could switch off solar when excess energy production occurs

MORE than 275,000 South Australian households could have their solar panels switched off during times of excess energy production, as the state government considers implementing new powers.

The state government has released the plan to protect South Australia’s electricity network from a possible state-wide blackout.

“The Marshall government is taking strong action to address the legacy risks of a decade of uncoordinated rooftop solar installations to ensure the lights stay on and the price of electricity continues to fall,” Minister for Energy and Mining Dan van Holst Pellekaan said.
