Fire destroys Yorketown’s butcher shop

FIRE cause investigators have deemed the blaze that completely gutted longstanding business Yorketown Quality Meats last night (Monday) was accidental and non-suspicious, most probably caused by an electrical failure.

Damage to the heritage building, which has operated as a butcher shop for more than 100 years, has been estimated at between $500,000 and $600,000.

Yorketown Foodland staff smelled smoke coming from the shop and raised the alarm at 6.30pm.
