Work starts on sea rescue base

WORK on SA Sea Rescue Squadron Copper Coast flotilla’s state-of-the-art Wallaroo home base started on Thursday, August 23.

The flotilla received $305,590, which will be matched dollar for dollar, from the federal government’s Building Better Regions Fund for the project earlier this year.

The two-storey building on Heritage Drive has been years in the making, initiated when former flotilla leader the late Steve Bartlett dreamed of a location that would include the base and shed for the rescue boat in one.
