Last call to have your say about snapper

LABOR is calling on the government to complete an urgent independent scientific review before enforcing changes to the state’s snapper fishery.

The public consultation period for the proposed changes, which involve closing all Yorke Peninsula waters to snapper fishing for three years, ends this Friday, August 30.

The options have been slammed by fishers, with fears charter operators will be put out of business and flow-on effects will damage tourism numbers and the local economy.
