GPSA to hold grain storage workshop
WORKSHOP... Grain Producers SA is hosting a series of Grain Storage Workshops across the state, including at Maitland.

GRAIN Producers SA is bringing its free grain storage workshop to Maitland next month.

The workshop is part of a series being delivered in conjunction with Grains Research and Development Corporation’s Grain Storage Extension Project, to provide information and resources for producers on best practice on-farm grain storage.

GPSA CEO Brad Perry said the workshops are in response to feedback from GPSA’s annual producer survey.

“Our 2022 grain producer survey demonstrated the increased investment and use of on-farm storage and we identified an opportunity to provide information and resources on this important topic,” Mr Perry said.

“Off the back of a record harvest in South Australia, it was evident that many grain producers opted to store grain on-farm for convenience, productivity and profitability reasons.

“There is a range of new technologies available to monitor on-farm storage and the workshops will explore the most efficient and practical ways to store grain, while protected from moisture and pests.

“Following the workshops, we are offering attendees the opportunity to visit a local grain producer’s property to see their on-farm storage firsthand.”

Agricultural engineer Ben White will lead the workshop at the Maitland Golf Club on Wednesday, March 29.
