The YP Polocrosse Club kicked off October with a coaching and fun weekend on Saturday and Sunday, October 2 and 3.

A coaching clinic was run by Danny Polain, who has 50 years of experience in the polocrosse industry, including national level coaching, previous experience with Australian-wide teams and competing in top state levels for many years.

“Although our club members range from junior beginners right through to experienced riders, Danny covered each level and helped us understand how we can improve our game, ran through many different drills and techniques and also helped us better our ball, racquet and general polocrosse skills,” a YP Polocrosse Club spokesperson said.

“After lunch on Saturday, the club held a gymkhana which we believe was the first gymkhana on the YP for over 20 years.

“There were four different age levels and about 17 riders involved.

“When the sun went down and the field lights were turned on we finished off the day by having a few chukkas of polocrosse for all of our riders to show off the skills they learned from Danny throughout the day.

“On Sunday, more coaching was held followed by a stockman’s challenge which included pattern work, obstacles and timed events.

“Overall, the weekend was a huge success and wouldn’t have been possible without Danny, the YP Polocrosse Club committee and all those who kindly helped out.”
