RAA is accelerating its support for regional safety, with $125,000 up for grabs in its annual Regional Safety Grants program — a significant increase from last year’s $70,000.
For the past 12 years, this program has empowered regional communities to drive safety initiatives, with grants of up to $10,000 available for worthwhile projects.
Since 2013, the program has injected well over half a million dollars into regional South Australia, supporting projects that make a real difference.
“Supporting the South Australian community is at the heart of RAA — it’s what we do,” RAA general manager community and corporate affairs Emily Perry said.
“This program is a testament to our commitment to improving the lives of our regional members and their communities.”
Last year’s grant recipient projects include:
• Royal Life Saving Society South Australia’s Regional Safety Program: $9,000 to deliver water safety and first aid training to teenagers in the Riverland.
• Booleroo Melrose Wilmington Football Club’s behind-goal netting project: $10,000 to enhance safety for players and officials.
• Ceduna Community Children’s Centre speed awareness project: $10,000 to install speed indicator devices and promote road safety.
• CFS Williamstown Brigade increase rescue capability project: $5500 for a Forcible Entry Tool T1 to provide faster and easier access in road crash rescue incidents.
Regional schools, clubs, and community groups can apply for grants of up to $10,000 to fund safety projects or activities.
Applications are open from October 1 to 30.

Previous Yorke Peninsula grant recipients include St Columba’s Memorial School, Yorketown ($2250 for school bus booster seats) in 2022.
In 2020, Yorke Valley and Northern Yorke CFS groups, Yorketown CFS brigade and Port Julia Progress Association received grants for a thermal camera, mobile signal booster, thermal camera and other safety equipment, and an automated external defibrillator, respectively.
