NYRSTAR has put a call out for 100 new staff members.

The company plans to plans to add significantly to the existing workforce of 800 direct employees and 300 contractors at its Port Pirie smelter.

The positions are varied, from administration staff to engineers, boilermakers, electricians, fitters, operators, emergency response officers, scaffolders and metallurgists.

"Nyrstar has a long-term commitment to its future in Australia, having recently installed a new furnace at the Port Pirie plant, and continues investing heavily in environmental, operational and other improvements," a spokesperson said.
