IF you’re after a special gift with a homemade touch, or want to create something yourself, Crafty Creations on George is the place to go.
Owner Lorna Markos has created a space for locals to display and stock their works, as well as have a chance at trying some crafts of their own.
The store is officially opening its doors on Wednesday, September 8, and will be celebrating until Sunday, September 12, with plenty happening in store.
“My aim is to help local people by collecting as many different crafts as I can and creating a chance to display and sell their products,” Lorna said.
“Although not entirely restricted to local crafts, I do stock predominately local as well as my own brand of products, Fat Wombat, and my Brisbane-based daughter’s label Sunshine Honeybee from which she donates some profits to charity.”
Crafty Creations will host card marking classes from 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm on Thursday, September 9.
“It’ll cost $30 per class and all kits will be supplied, with participants taking at least two cards home with them,” Lorna said.
“We’re also holding an indoor market from 9am to 2pm on Saturday, September 11.”
There really is something for everyone at Crafty Creations, with handmade baby and children’s clothing and hats, candles, driftwood mobiles, shadow boxes, knee rugs, as well as art.
“There is also homemade baking every weekend and jams and relishes in store,” she said.
Crafty Creations will also be a hub of excitement these school holidays as Lorna hosts two activities for kids.
“We’re holding a planting session from 11am to noon on Sunday, September 26,” Lorna said.
“Children can pay $10 to pot a plant they can take home and then we’re holding two biscuit decorating sessions to raise money for the Childhood Cancer Association on Wednesday, September 29.
“Sessions will run from 10am to 11am, and 2pm to 3pm, and cost $10 with all money going to the Childhood Cancer Association.”
Crafty Creations on George, 65 George Street, Moonta, is open Wednesday to Friday, 9.30am to 3pm, Saturday 9.30am to 4pm and Sunday 10am to 2pm.
