Another milestone for Mosel Surveyors

MOSEL Surveyors staff have shared their appreciation for the contribution of David Jericho, who has recently reached the commendable milestone of 20 years’ service.

David and wife Cynthia moved their family to Kadina in 2001 after surveying had taken them around Australia, starting with the Lands Department in Adelaide then heading to the Northern Territory and Far North Queensland.

“We had two young boys so we decided to come home to South Australia to be closer to family,” Dave said.

“We still wanted to live in a regional area, and Kadina has good sport and recreation opportunities, and plenty to do nearby.

“Also, being regional, the diversity of surveying work was attractive.”

Still passionate about the job after all these years, David’s real fondness is boundary or cadastral work.

He loves sharing his knowledge and his role as a mentor has been particularly rewarding in the past 12 months with two of Mosel’s long-term employees obtaining their surveyor’s licences, the legal qualification to undertake boundary work, a major achievement after many years of study.

There have also been lots of changes in the Copper Coast since David arrived.

The Copper Cove Marina at Wallaroo was in its early stages, the Greg Norman-designed golf course at The Dunes was a farmer’s paddock, and there was some serious work to be done to remediate the site now known as Wallaroo Shores, offering many different major projects of interest.

“There are lots of different pathways in this industry,” Dave said.

“You can do boundary or engineering surveying, but there are also other surveying disciplines associated with how the measurements are to be used, adding to the variety and varying the balance of office and field time.”

David, Cynthia, and their sons Dale and Brett have been active in the community since arriving in the Copper Coast.

David is well known particularly through his involvement with the Kadina Football Club.

“We have made a lot of friends and really enjoy living in the community,” he said.

Director Michael Liebelt congratulated David on reaching 20 years of service.

With 15 staff supporting three regional offices, he is proud of the excellent, professional surveying services provided by the team across much of regional South Australia.
