KADINA Newsagency has been family owned and operated for 20 years.
Owners Chris and Sharon Hill said, when they first purchased the newsagency, it was a very traditional one, with magazines, cards, papers, books and stationery, and a newspaper round.
“Now, like many newsagencies around Australia, we have evolved into something totally different, adding many more offerings for customers and businesses,” they said.
“We also shifted into a new shop 13 years ago, doubling our size and allowing us to expand into giftware, homeware, kids’ and baby gifts, jewellery and handbags, arts and crafts, educational items and so much more.
“Another big change, only made a few years ago, was to cease delivering The Advertiser and Yorke Peninsula Country Times after 17 years of 2am starts — it’s great to get a full night’s sleep!”
Chris and Sharon have run the business with the help of their two children Alex and Caitlin.
“As the kids have grown, both worked and helped out, especially Caitlin working the shop a lot after finishing school,” they said.
“Both our parents have also been a huge support, helping roll out the YPCT most weeks and just general help with shifting and rearranging the shop many times over the 20 years.
“We have had many amazing staff members in this time who have certainly become like family, their dedication to our business has been awesome and for that we are very grateful to all our staff and family.”
Chris and Sharon made the decision to purchase the Sweet Tooth more than two years ago.
“We then moved it into our building which has added another offering to our shop for everyone of all ages,” they said.
“A huge thank you must also go to our beautiful customers for all their support and friendship over the many years; you coming into our family business means the world to us — we love to see everyone for a chat and it’s what keeps the business open by shopping local.”
