YORKE Peninsula Regional Alliance’s draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2026-30 is now open for community consultation.

Yorke Peninsula, Barunga West and Copper Coast councils have worked together to develop a plan to improve accessibility and inclusion across the region.

The plan is structured around five key domains: inclusive environments and communities; education and employment; personal and community support; health and wellbeing; and safety, rights and justice.

Yorke Peninsula Council mayor Kylie Gray said community feedback was vital to ensure the plan reflected local needs and priorities.

“Creating inclusive and accessible communities is a shared responsibility, and it begins with listening,” she said.

“The insights we receive from residents, carers, service providers and people with lived experience are invaluable in shaping a plan that truly meets the needs of our region.”

Initial engagement with the community took place in September and November 2024.

The draft DAIP was developed following the release of the South Australian Disability Inclusion Plan 2025-29 by the SA Government in August.

“This plan sets out practical actions that will make a real difference across our towns, facilities and services,” Mayor Gray said.

“I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to read the draft and complete the short survey — your feedback will help us build a stronger, more inclusive Yorke Peninsula.”

The consultation period is open until 5pm, Tuesday, December 23, with the final plan expected in early 2026.

The Draft DAIP 2026-2030 can be viewed at tinyurl.com/vt9y8buz.

Community members can provide feedback by completing a short, three-question online survey at tinyurl.com/42n25tfy.

Hard copies of the draft plan are also available on request from your local council.
