Probus goes to Melaleuca Court
1 min read

THE August meeting of Minlaton Probus Club was held at Melaleuca Court Nursing Home where we were able to have our member, Doug Endersbee, and his daughter, Kerryn Endersbee, join us for morning tea.

Melaleuca has very good facilities for small groups to meet with their residents so having a get-together there was easily organised.

Following our brief meeting, Doug described his new situation and how he moved into Melaleuca recently with some trepidation.

He described how it was a was a daunting, even frightening, prospect to move into such a home and to be dependent on others for support and assistance, after living independently in his own home and being master of his own destiny.

Doug said after a couple of days, he realised the care he was, and still is, receiving was excellent and made his situation much better.

He said the care, patience and understanding of the staff had made the transition into an experience where he is now in a safe and comfortable situation.

Initially he was able, with assistance, to attend Probus meetings and other events outside of Melaleuca but, as time moved on, this had become more difficult.

Doug explained that many of the residents of this important facility were lonely because they had no visitors.

Our next meeting is at the St Benedict’s church meeting room at 10am on Friday, September 20.
