RENEWABLE ENERGY... Pacific Blue’s Clements Gap Wind Farm; the company has just opened its annual grants program for community organisations.

COMMUNITY groups in Barunga West’s north are eligible for grants of up to $10,000 through the $55,000 Pacific Blue Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund.

The fund supports projects across health and welfare; education and training; environment, sport and recreation; culture and arts; and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing.

Previous projects to receive grants include Port Broughton Bowling Club’s battery energy storage system and a Port Broughton town newsletter website upgrade.

More than $700,000 has been distributed across 150 community projects since the fund started in 2010.

Not-for-profit organisations from Port Broughton, Fisherman Bay and Mundoora, as well as Crystal Brook, Merriton, Red Hill and Wandearah are encouraged to apply, Pacific Blue chief executive Domenic Capomolla says.

“As a renewable energy developer, Pacific Blue is committed to giving back to the communities that host its clean energy projects, with positive and lasting social, environmental, and economic benefits,” Mr Capomolla says.

“Last month, Pacific Blue broke ground on the 60MW Clements Gap Battery Energy Storage System, which will be located next to the existing wind farm.

“The large-scale BESS is a first for Pacific Blue in Australia, with the project already supporting the Crystal Brook Athletics Carnival since 2023.”

Visit the Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund page at PacificBlue.com.au for guidelines and information about how to apply for a grant; applications close 5pm, Friday, August 2.

Eligible submissions will be reviewed by a panel of local community members and leaders; to be part of this panel, email communityfund@pacificblue.com.au.
