AUDIKA Hearing Clinic, Kadina, audiometrist Luke Halls knows what it’s like to have hearing issues.  Mr Halls has had many problems with his ears, having had close to 20 surgeries, including for grommets, tumours and reconstructive surgeries.

Mr Halls said hearing loss and the experience of wearing a hearing aid led to his interest in hearing health.

“As an audiometrist at Audika’s Kadina clinic, I work to improve the quality of life for this regional community by helping people hear better” he said.

According to a recent survey by Audika and group YouGov, treating hearing loss can have a positive impact on people’s lives.

“A third of respondents with hearing aids reported feeling more connected to their family than before diagnosis and said there was less stress on their relationships,” Mr Halls said.

“Many people come to the Copper Coast to retire and, with it being a farming and industrial community, many people have experience noise-induced hearing loss.

“I’ve helped fit many people with the right hearing aid for them.

“Whether it’s a smaller, invisible fit or Bluetooth connectivity, hearing-aid technology has advanced and offers diverse options to fit each person’s needs uniquely.

“I love helping to improve the quality of people’s lives every day, it’s a rewarding job — it gives me goosebumps — not many people can say that.”

Mr Halls recently won the Clinician of the Year Award at the Australian College of Audiology National Congress in Melbourne.

He was recognised for his clinical excellence, commitment to patient care, and his positive impact on the lives of his clients, colleagues, and community.

“We all need to be a little kinder to our ears and take the first step to better hearing health,” Mr Halls said.

Audika offers free hearing checks to all Australians over the age of 26.

“We also have a five-minute online hearing check that can help provide immediate insight into how well you hear,” Mr Halls said.

To book a free hearing check at your nearest clinic or to take Audika’s free online hearing check, visit audika.com.au or call the Kadina clinic on 8821 1611.
