Celebrating over a century of care
Above: LIFETIME OF SERVICE... From the age of 17, Barbara Cook — now 93 — has worked across Yorke Peninsula, giving back to her community through nursing and midwifery. Mrs Cook said she began her training at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and spent about three years in Papua New Guinea. She later returned to Yorke Peninsula, finishing her career close to home to be near her now husband, Max Cook. After years of caring for her community at Minlaton Hospital, the kindness is now being returned — Mrs Cook is receiving care at Melaleuca Court Nursing Home, located in the former hospital building. She said she thought it was her love for taking care of dolls and helping people, which inspired her to become a nurse.
