FORMER Yacka farmer Colin Mitchell brought the first linkage Bogballe fertiliser spreader into South Australia nearly 20 years ago, and since then the product has proved an outstanding investment for hundreds of farmers across the state.

Not only is it steadfast in its accuracy and offers all of the modern features demanded by professional enterprises, it is the product’s longevity which stands out above all.

“It would surprise you to know how many 10-plus year old Bogballe spreaders are out there still in immaculate condition and working order,” Techgrow managing director Colin Mitchell said.

“I put this down largely to the fact Danish company Bogballe focuses on producing just one product, linkage fertiliser spreaders.

“This means that they have a 100 per cent, 365-day focus on producing the best spreader in the world, without the distraction of needing to allocate significant resources to developing an entire suite of products.

“It’s like purchasing fruit from a fruit shop. You can go to the big supermarkets to purchase fruit, but they put on the shelves what they get sent and also have thousands of other products to be concerned about.

“A fruit shop knows their product intimately, only sources the best quality and can find you exactly what you need with tailored service.”

This focus allows Bogballe to pursue not only the very best manufacturing and finishing processes but, most importantly, those which are specifically suited to linkage fertiliser spreaders.

“One of the best examples of this is the best-in-class steel treatment and subsequent Flexi-Coat paint finish which Bogballe designed specifically to deal with the harsh nature of fertiliser,” Colin said.

“Every piece of steel on the spreader is blasted and has the edges rounded, before going through a 45 minute, highly technical seven-step cleaning and chemical treatment process.

“The Flexi-Coat paint is then applied electrically with 12,000 volts to ensure 100 per cent adhesion, which results in an incredibly durable, flexible and resilient finish which, if looked after, can last decades.”
