THE Farrow family will hold their 61st annual field day and auction at Babirra Poll Merino and Dohne Stud, Stansbury, on Tuesday, August 16.

“The 30 Poll Merino rams we will offer for auction this year have been side sampled to give current test results on the day, also scanned to give eye muscle depth readings and fat score to add to the dual-purpose features of our paddock-reared sheep,” Lynda Farrow said.  

“This year, the Poll Merinos will have Australian Sheep Breeding Values from Sheep Genetics Australia.

“We are the first stud on Yorke Peninsula to use these figures — we have found more clients are looking towards the figure side in the Poll Merinos.”

This year’s sale offering will include progeny sired by Moorundie Park, Babirra and new progeny from Glenlea Park.

“Babirra purchased the Glenlea Park ram at the 2020 Adelaide Ram Sale — this ram carries a long white, well-nourished wool with great style,” Lynda said.

“The stud’s Poll Merino ram auction will be held immediately after the 21st Dohne Ram auction.

“Our Dohne sale rams continue to be independently assessed and indexed with Australian Sheep Breeding Values from Sheep Genetics Australia.

“The 60 Dohne rams have been scanned to give eye muscle depth readings and fat score; wool tests were taken at shearing and are available on the day.”

Babirra continues its Dohne AI program sourcing genetics from other studs throughout Australia.

The Dohne sale team this year will include progeny from Babirra and Chirniminup, Western Australia.

All rams are paddock reared, Brucellosis Free Accredited and OJD-MN3v Approved Vaccinated.

The stud’s on-property field day and auction will be held on Tuesday, August 16; inspection from 9am, auction from 11am. Pre-sale inspection 10am to 4pm, Tuesday, August 9.
