The fantastic weather was the perfect welcome for the association croquet state squad as they arrived in Kadina for their training weekend held on Saturday and Sunday, September 16 and 17.
Both days were magnificent, expressed best by Kadina Croquet Club president Dean Rodda who welcomed players back to another day in paradise on Sunday.
Captain Dwayne McCormack of Norwood, who is currently 21 in the world rankings, put players through their paces on Saturday morning before pairing everyone off for a doubles game.
“I was very lucky to be paired with Dwayne, he was very patient and helpful to me,” KCC member Linda Kinch said.
The squad headed straight into a singles game in hot weather on Sunday. The competition finished a little earlier than planned as several players had to travel back to Cleve, Victor Harbor and Adelaide.
It was an honour for the Kadina Croquet Club to host the training weekend and to hear the squad’s comments on the excellent condition of the lawns, which volunteer Malcolm Kinch maintains.
They also enjoyed the morning tea provided by Helen Rodda.
Several club members came to watch and help, which was greatly appreciated by everyone.
