Ardrossan Seaview aged care expansion to begin in 2026
MORE BEDS... Aged care facility Ardrossan Seaview is being expanded and refurbished.

CONSTRUCTION will begin in mid-2026 on an extension to the Ardrossan Seaview aged care facility, adding seven new beds and increasing its capacity to 40 residents.

The project is part of a major refurbishment and expansion led by Mid North not-for-profit Walara, with significant funding support from the Australian Government.

“Construction is scheduled to commence in mid-2026, following design development and approvals in early 2026, with completion anticipated by late 2027,” Walara chief executive Robert Veitch said.

“This project reflects Walara’s commitment to innovation, community engagement, and delivering sustainable aged care solutions for regional South Australia.”

Mr Veitch said the redevelopment would also address longstanding infrastructure issues associated with the former Ardrossan Community Hospital building, such as salt damp and asbestos.

The project would introduce a modern design to support ageing in place with dignity and care.

Walara’s broader vision for Ardrossan Seaview includes planning for independent living units (a retirement village), integrating home care services, and working with Yorke Peninsula Council to improve local infrastructure.

Ardrossan Seaview was previously operated by the former Ardrossan Community Hospital and became part of the Walara portfolio in early October.

Walara also runs aged care homes in Balaklava, Riverton and Hamley Bridge, along with an independent living village and home care services across the Mid North.
