YORKE Peninsula songstress Amber Joy Poulton is touring the biggest country music theatre show in Australia and finally bringing it to her own neck of the woods with performances in Kadina and Edithburgh in August.

Since moving to Yorke Peninsula 10 years ago, Amber Joy Poulton has travelled from her home in Corny Point all over Australia to perform her show, Coal Miner’s Daughter, which she wrote and produced herself.

“It became clear to me the true country music lovers are in the country and they’re playing country music in their tractors and utes because it’s hard for them to leave their farms and head to ‘the big smoke’ to see a show,” she says.

“So, I thought, why not bring the show to them?”

YP music lovers will hear the incredible story of country music’s beloved superstar, Loretta Lynn plus all her biggest hits and those of her friends Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette, Willie Nelson and more.

“When I’m dressed up as Loretta, it is very different for people to see me in that mode,” she says.

“It’s a bit daunting but once the lights go out in the theatre, I just hope they can forget they know me for those few hours so they can truly immerse themselves in the songs and the story of this legendary woman”.

Coal Miner’s Daughter will play at the Kadina Memorial School Theatre on Saturday, August 24 and at the Light Church Auditorium in Edithburgh on Sunday, August 25.

“Audiences will be captivated by the masterful storytelling, performances and catalogue of hits,” she says.

“This is a show not to be missed, and with the passing of the great Loretta Lynn, there is no better time to celebrate her music.

“Loretta Lynn paved the way for women like me in country music, to take centre stage.

“If you like country music, you’ll love this theatre experience. If you don’t like country music, you will after.”

Tickets are available now at www.coalminersdaughter.com.au.
