THE Agricultural Bureau of South Australia has launched a new-look website and logo as part of a recent brand refresh.
The new website is designed to be a one-stop shop for farmers to access information relevant to their disciplines and support ABSA’s values of community, connection and sustainability.
ABSA vice-chairperson Bevan Oster said he hoped people took up the opportunity to get involved by becoming members of the organisation.
“People can become a member and catch all the news which is coming and going in the agricultural circle,” he said.
“For instance, if you’re a cropping farmer you can get all your relevant cropping information sent through our newsletter, Ag Chat.
“Or if you’re a sheep farmer or deal with machinery, there are all sorts of things moving in the agriculture space.
“The new website will make the ABSA more accessible for everyone to get the information they require.
“People will be joining an already 1200-strong community and some of the agriculture bureaux have been operating for more than 100 years, meaning there are quite a few members who have been involved for 40 to 50 years.
“We recognise this regularly as we are hugely appreciative of their knowledge — they were probably farming stalwarts at one point but even after they’ve moved on, they continue to contribute as members.”
Mr Oster said the YP Field Days served as a prime example of the ongoing importance agricultural bureaux play in farming communities.
“We have about 55 bureaux across the state and six have been integral contributors to the operations of the YP Field Days,” he said.
“They’ve been the driving force of the event for all of these years to ensure it remains farmer owned, operated and managed.”
