The jetty has salmon trout, yellowfin whiting and Australian herring. Wallaroo: The marina offered some shelter this past week with catches of mullet and a few bream. Point Riley had whiting and red mullet; the bay has whiting, squid and early garfish at the back of the strong winds. The jetty has small snapper, Australian herring, and squid. Port Hughes: Medium snapper catches have been good; whiting and snook are in mixed bags, while Cape Elizabeth grounds are good for big snook and Australian herring Point Turton: Good-size whiting out from the small bays north of Minlacowie in the broken, reefy ground about 1-2km offshore. Whiting through to The Pines, Australian herring and a few squid in the early mornings, and red mullet are everywhere. Point Souttar has yellowfin whiting and mullet. Hardwicke Bay drift grounds should be better after the stormy weather last week. Edithburgh: Whiting at Troubridge Point and salmon off the beach from Wattle Point, Suicides and Kemps right through to Mozzie Flat and Point Davenport. Whiting at Rocky Gully and Marion Reef, and small snapper at Tapley Shoals. There are a few whiting off Coobowie, salmon out from Point Giles and squid northeast of Troubridge Island. The jetty has squid and Australian herring at nights. Stansbury: Foreshore beaches have a few mullet and salmon trout while the jetty has squid and yellowfin whiting on the high tides. Still a tad early for blue crabs but you could try late afternoons; remember the regulations regarding what can be used as bait. Whiting off the Orontes Bank and on the change of tide off The Hut. Port Vincent: Reports of salmon and mulloway at the marina, with several schools of mullet running in a line from the oyster lease marker (Stansbury) through to just south of town. Black Point has whiting and a few snook. Ardrossan: Good catches of whiting from boats; the jetty has Australian herring and salmon trout on the higher side of the tide. Medium snapper off the reefs early. Salmon trout and yellowfin whiting in shallow waters north of Ardrossan towards Point Julia and Point Arthur. Information: www.gregjamesfishing.com.au.
