Beware of scammers

THE Australian Competition and Cons­umer Commission is urging people to be wary of phone scammers asking for access to your computer.

ACCC’s Scamwatch website has recorded a spike in remote-access scams, with more than 8000 reports totalling $4.4million already this year.

“Losses so far in 2018 have already surpassed those for the whole of 2017, and sadly older Australians are losing the most money,” ACCC deputy chairperson Delia Rickard said.
