New prawn fishery plan

NEW arrangements have been made for a co-management regime of prawn fishery in Spencer Gulf.

Control will be shared between the state government and the Spencer Gulf and West Coast Prawn Fishermen’s Association.

The association has the authority to sign off on management plans and harvest strategies, a power previously only held by the Fisheries Minister.
